Edetaen Ojo
Executive Director
Edetaen has worked on access to information, media freedom and freedom of expression, media development, human rights and democracy issues in Nigeria, regionally and internationally for about 25 years. He holds Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife in Nigeria and a Masters degree in International Journalism from City University, London in the United Kingdom. He also has a diploma in NGO Management from Galilee College in Israel, and is a former visiting media fellow at the DeWitt Wallace Center for Communications and Journalism at Duke University in North Carolina in the United States.
In 2013, he served as a member of the International Advisory Committee for UNESCO’s project on “The Safety of Online Media Actors Doing Journalism” and was also in 2013 named an Internet Freedom Fellow by the U.S. State Department. In 2004, he was honoured by the Centre for Media Education and Networking in Lagos for his “Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Journalism in Nigeria” and in 2011, he was honoured with the “Pan African Award for Information Activism” at the Pan African Conference on Access to Information in Cape Town, South Africa, for his “tireless struggle over 15 years in advancing media and information issues,” which culminated in the historic passage of Nigeria’s Freedom of Information. In 2013, he was honoured by the Government of Lagos State and conferred with the title of “Crusader for Freedom of Information” for his role in the advocacy for the adoption of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 in Nigeria. In 2017, he was conferred with the “Lifetime Award for Journalistic Excellence” by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) in recognition of his work in defence of media freedom and advocacy for Freedom of Information and in 2018, he was conferred with the “Defender of Press Freedom Award” by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in recognition of the fact that he “has spent nearly all of his professional life, spanning a period of over 30 years, as a journalist and an advocate for media freedom, freedom of expression and as a human rights defender.”
Edetaen is a former Co-Chair and currently a member of the National Steering Committee of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) in Nigeria as well as a member of the Board of Directors of International Media Support (IMS), an international media development organization based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is also Chair of the African Freedom of Expression Exchange (AFEX), a network of freedom of expression organizations in Africa. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Press Centre (IPC) in Lagos and has previously served as a member and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) in Accra, Ghana; he was the founding Chairperson of the African Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC), based in Kampala, Uganda, and is currently a member of its Governing Council; he has previously served as Convenor (Chair) and as a Council member of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), a global network of freedom of expression organizations; and is a member of the Working Group of the African Platform on Access to Information (APAI).

Ayode Longe
Deputy Executive Director
Ayode is a civil rights advocate who started his development work in the heydays of the pro-democracy group, the Campaign for Democracy (CD) and its struggle to compel the military to return to the barracks and entrench democracy in Nigeria. A graduate of English and Literature from the University of Benin, he is also the Secretary of the Board of Governors of the Freedom of Information Coalition (FOIC) in Nigeria.
He has subsequently streamlined his civil rights work from an engagement on pro-democracy and general human rights issues to a narrower focus on freedom of expression, access to information, media freedom and media development.
He is a trainer on freedom of expression issues and has trained representatives of civil society organization, media, public officials and other citizens on issues of media freedom and freedom of information. He is also a leading expert on media monitoring, covering content monitoring for radio, television, newspapers and online publications. He has led and coordinated several media monitoring projects that collated, analysed and reported on qualitative and quantitative media reportage of issues of corruption, election, impunity, human rights, among others.
He coordinates and reports on media issues including media freedom and development, opportunities, attacks on media etc.
He is an alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP), an exchange programme funded by the United States Department of States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Kingsley Aisagbonhi
Finance Officer/Accountant
With many years of experience in financial management, Kingsley has overseen finance and accounting matters at Media Rights Agenda for nearly two decades. He has a deep knowledge of financials policies, procedures and systems.
He is primarily responsible for implementing the organization’s financial policies to ensure operational efficiency, assisting in the planning and preparation of the organization’s annual budgets as well as project budgets, maintaining financial records, including records and receipts for all financial transactions, and accordingly ensuring that financial records are kept up-to-date; assisting in the conduct of financial audits, monitoring all bank transactions, including participating in reconciliation of transactions; performing financial analysis periodically to detect and resolve any issues arising from them; and preparing balance sheets and invoices, among other functions.
An nthuseiast for freedom of expression, online safety and a more inclusive digital space for all, prior to working with Media Rights Agenda, he worked as an audit officer with a textile company in Isolo, Lagos State.
He attended Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State, where he graduated in Accountancy. He has attended several courses on Financial Management, Financial Reporting for Donors and financial sustainability for NGOS at different times organized by USAID, the West African Civil Society Institute (WACSI); and Humentum, among others, in different parts of Nigeria as well as in Accra, Ghana, and Lisbon, Portugal.

Oluwabunmi Bamiselu
Administrative Manager
Bunmi she joined Media Rights Agenda as Secretary to the Executive Director, and later rose to the position of Administrative Manager of the organization. She graduated from the Lagos State Polytechnic, where she studied Business Administration.
She is in charge of directing and coordinating the organization’s administrative support services to ensure delivery on its mandate and its success. Her responsibilities include daily operations and general workflows, overseeing personnel matters, facilitating smooth and comprehensive internal communication to ensure effective information flow, custody and management of the organization’s records, leading the development of various organizational policies and procedures, particularly those designed to ensure the effective functioning of the organization, overseeing the acquisition, maintenance and efficient use of the organization’s facilities and equipment, among other tasks and responsibilities.
Although largely in charge of administrative duties of the organisation, Bunmi over the years supports most of the organization’s programmes and activities, rendering a variety of support services in the planning and implementation of such programmes and activities. Besides her primary role as Administrative Manager, she is also involved in various programme activities of the organization.
Bunmi is a trained Data Entry Officer, also in charge of designing the organisation publications and supporting the finance department in budget and financial reporting.

Ayomide Eweje
Programme Officer
Ayomide Elizabeth Eweje holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and a Postgraduate Diploma in Communications, bringing a strong educational background in English Language and Communications to Media Rights Agenda.
Prior to joining Media Rights Agenda, she worked for over three years in the community media sector, where she developed her skills in crafting compelling stories that inform, engage, and inspire audiences. Her career in journalism entailed reporting on local news, as well as creating lifestyle and fashion content tailored to female audiences.
Ayomide is also trained in fact-checking and using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools and methodology for research; verifying news, information, images, and videos for authenticity; tracking and combating misinformation and disinformation; as well as identifying hidden connections between people, organizations, or events in an effort to ensure accuracy in news reporting and a sanitized information ecosystem.
She is skilled in writing and editing, with a unique ability to ensure clarity, coherence, accuracy and effectiveness in all forms of content. Beyond her writing and editing skills, she is also a gifted graphic designer, audio and video editor, skills which she has deployed in her media career to enhance storytelling across various platforms.
Ayomide also has a deep interest in personal development, women empowerment, and skill acquisition. She has previously worked as customer service officer in the private sector, where she had the opportunity to demonstrate her strong problem-solving skills and charismatic attributes.
Fluent in English and Yoruba, she is a passionate and resourceful individual who is committed to using her communication skills to drive meaningful conversations, create impactful content, contribute positively in media and customer engagement spaces, and bring about meaning change in society.

Idowu Adewale
Communications Officer
Idowu joined MRA as a programme officer and is currently the organization’s Communications Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Information System from Babcock University in Ogun State.
He coordinates and oversees the organization’s public communications activities both offline and online using its robust communication channels. He is also in charge of developing communication strategies consisting of the use of a mix of conventional and social media platforms and outlets across the organization’s programmes and project activities.
Idowu is tasked with providing visibility for the organization by disseminating its activities to different audiences through press statements, newsletters, email listserv, website and social media platforms, among others. He also provides IT support and assistance to staff.
Since joining the organization, Idowu has built his capacity through various training on issues relating to digital security, internet governance, freedom of information, freedom of expression and financial sustainability.
He is a member of the Internet Society (ISOC), Nigeria Chapter as well as an alumnus of the African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG). In 2019, he was selected as a fellow of the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC).
His interests cut across content writing, volunteering and wildlife documentaries.

John Gbadamosi
Programme Officer
John Gbadamosi is a Programme Officer primarily attached to the Digital Rights Department of Media Rights Agenda. However, his work cuts across freedom of expression, access to information, media freedom, and grassroots advocacy, in addition to digital rights and Internet freedom issues. Over the years, he has engaged with a wide range of actors and communities on issues in these areas.
A graduate of Banking and Finance from Lagos State University, John has undertaken several training programmes in the human rights and digital rights field locally, regionally and internationally.
He was a fellow of Article 19’s Internet of Rights (IoR) Fellowship Programme and in that capacity, he examined regulatory guidelines for the deployment of broadband services in Nigeria. In the scope of his project, he mapped the guidelines, looked at license procedures, and drew out the human rights issues.
He has studied specific standardization projects in Japan, focusing on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802 Standards, LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) and the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)
At MRA, he monitors attacks on journalists and media workers both in the online and offline environments and is in charge of producing Media Rights Monitor (MRM), MRA’s monthly newsletter, that focuses, among other issues, on freedom of expression, media development and freedom, freedom of information, digital rights and Internet freedom.

Monday Arunsi
Monday Arunsi
Monday is a human rights lawyer with over four years of experience in litigation, legal drafting and legal research. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Madonna University in Nigeria. He obtained his Barrister at Law qualification from the Nigerian Law School upon graduation from the university and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar.
Monday has been in active legal practice since being called to the Bar. He started his career as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Legal Aid scheme under its Community Development Service (CDS) programme during his service year.
Prior to joining Media Rights Agenda as a Legal Officer, he practised with number of law firms in Nigeria, including Yemi Omodele & Co, Anthony Regha and Associates, Onwumere & Co (Marakata Solicitors) and Abundance Grace Chambers.
He is an avid reader and enjoys travelling and sporting activities.

Timileyin Adams
Programme Officer
Timileyin Adams is a dynamic and resourceful individual with an educational background in Industrial Relations and Adult Education. He holds a Master of Education degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan, following a Bachelor of Education degree he obtained earlier from Ekiti State University.
Driven by a commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement, Timileyin has gained significant expertise in data analysis through training in Advanced Excel; Power BI, a unified, scalable platform for self-service and enterprise business intelligence; and Tableau, the business intelligence and analytics software.
Throughout his career, Timileyin has played and excelled in various roles including logistics coordination, administrative duties, teaching, and human resource management.
His diverse experience demonstrates his adaptability, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, making him a valuable asset to our team. He has successfully managed logistics, improved operational efficiencies, and contributed to academic success, consistently achieving positive results.
Among his interests are football, wildlife, and organisational psychology. He also has a keen interest in stress management, exploring techniques to improve well-being and productivity.

Khadijat Idowu
Receptionist
Khadijat joined MRA as an office assistant and later took up the position of a Receptionist.
She is an undergraduate student of Cooperative Management at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Lagos State Study Centre. She is well groomed, polite and a dependable worker. She has excellent verbal communication skills and is a good listener.
Being in charge of the organization’s front office, Khadijat is the first point of contact with the organization for all visitors. She provides information to visitors, in addition to helping with their enquiries and other issues.
A lover of graphic arts, she engages in makeup and graphic designs.

Peace Anthony
Administrative Assistant
Peace Emem Anthony is a vibrant and creative woman with a flair for the arts and a deep-rooted passion for fashion. She attended Stadium Senior Secondary School in Agege, Lagos State, where she began to nurture her love for style and self-expression.
A professionally trained hairdresser, Peace is also deeply passionate about fashion designing, constantly exploring new trends and ideas to express her creativity. She aspires to one day own a fashion brand that reflects her unique sense of style.
In her free time, Peace enjoys cooking delicious meals, listening to music, swimming, and engaging with friends and trends on social media. She is also a sports enthusiast, with a particular love for volleyball and football.
Her favorite color is pink, a reflection of her warm, cheerful personality and optimistic outlook on life.
