Dr. Justina Anjiode Kotso, the Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia in Nassarawa State, has filed a lawsuit against Rabiu Omaku, a reporter  for Universal Reporters, claiming N100 million as damages for alleged defamation of character over publication of a news report by the online news platform, Universal Reporters, which accused her of embezzlement

On September 18, 2023, the platform claimed in a news report that the Rector embezzled funds meant for the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). The article, titled “Rector IMAPOLY (Formerly Nasarawa State Polytechnic) in the Eyes of the Storm as Allowances of SIWES Students Disappeared into Thin Air,” drew strong objections from Dr. Kotso, who claimed that it had severely damaged her reputation and raised doubts about her integrity among the residents of the state.

Dr. Kotso, in a letter to Rabiu through M. I. Dikko chambers, demanded, in addition to the compensation, the removal of the alleged defamatory report from the Universal Reporters website, an apology for the publication and retraction of same in at least two national dailies and one local newspaper in Lafia, Nasarawa state to be published within seven days of receiving the notice.

Dikko Chambers have threatened to sue Rabui if he fails to meet the demands.
