Portugal is set to host the 70th World News Media Congress and 25th World Editors Forum being organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in partnership with the Portuguese Publishers Association (APImprensa).

Billed to hold in Estoril, Cascais from June 6 to 8, 2018, the 2018 Congress brings together a unique mix of chief editors, publishers, CEOs and folk who support the news business and are passionate about press freedom and are taking action to ensure a sustainable news industry.

This global event, aimed at developing invaluable cooperation, partnership and exchange with the who’s who in news media, is expected to bring together over 1000 participants from more than 60 countries.

The event agenda will focus on media leaders making a difference in diverse ways including by taking action to grow revenue, restoring trust through ground-breaking journalism, strengthening relationships with their audience, getting to grips with platforms and technologies that matter, rethinking the way they lead, and taking steps to address diversity.

WAN-IFRA’s mission is to protect the rights of journalists across the world to operate free media, and provide its members with professional services to help their business prosper in a digital world and perform their crucial role in open societies. With formal representative status at the United Nations, UNESCO and the Council of Europe, it derives its authority from its global network of leading news publishing companies and technology entrepreneurs, and its legitimacy from its 80 national association members representing 18,000 publications in 120 countries.
