The Open Government Partnership (OGP) has announced that the Republic of Korea will host the 2021 OGP Global Summit in Seoul, its capital city from December 13 from 17, 2021.

The 2021 OGP Global Summit will mark OGP’s 10th anniversary and will galvanize the open government community with fresh energy, political commitment, evidence, and support to build a stronger global movement for open government and democracy.

The Summit which will take place mainly online due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will prioritizing a variety of formats for virtual participation during and before the Summit. It will provide a platform and moment for reflecting on the progress of OGP in its first decade and present a vision for the future. The OGP Global Summit themes will be aligned with the current Co-Chair Priorities: strengthening civic space and public participation, tackling anti-corruption, and promoting inclusive digital innovation.

OGP Global Summits historically provide an opportunity for representatives of government, civil society, and others to meet and exchange experiences, best practices, and progress on open government initiatives and implementation. The Seoul meeting will be the 7th OGP Global Summit; previous Summits have been held in Canada, Georgia, France, Mexico, United Kingdom, and Brazil.
