Standard, Paris Review Call for Applications for Writer-in-Residence Programme

The Standard and The Paris Review are calling for applications to their first Writer-in-Residence programme, scheduled to hold in the first three weeks of January 2014.Standard and Paris

The writer-in-residence programme is open to writers of poetry or prose as well as fiction or non-fiction. The writer should have a book under contract and be in need of three weeks of solitude in downtown New York City.

Applications from writers should include the following:

  • A description and sample of the work-in-progress, not exceeding 50 pages in total.
  • A letter from the publisher confirming that the work is under contract.
  • A brief letter from the writer explaining how the residency would benefit his or her work-in-progress.

Although optional, writers are invited to submit samples of previous work which should not exceed 50 pages in total.

Editors of The Paris Review and The Standard Culture will serve as judges of all applications which should be submitted electronically to residency@theparisreview.org.

The deadline for submission of applications is November 1, 2013.
