The Stanford education of Knight-Hennessy Scholars is a fully funded programme including:   full funding for tuition, stipend, graduate programme and related academic expenses with additional financial support available for applicants who are willing to pursue any graduate degree at Stanford, from PhDs in arts, education, engineering, humanities, or social sciences to professional degrees in business, law, or medicine.

Applicants who earned a bachelor’s degree in 2014 or later are eligible to apply to Knight-Hennessy Scholars as well as U.S. military (active or veteran) applicants are eligible if they earned their bachelor’s degree in 2012 or later.

To be considered for selection to be a knight-Hennessy Scholar, applicants must also apply separately to the Stanford graduate programme they wish to pursue in addition to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Programme as applicants cannot be selected as Knight-Hennessy Scholars if the department they are applying to does not admit them.

The programme seeks for applicants who possess independence of thought; purposeful leadership and civic mindset.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars will prepare a new generation of leaders with a deep academic foundation and the broad skill set to develop creative solutions to effect positive change in the world.

Numerous intersecting challenges confront the world today: widening gaps in opportunity and income; declining livability caused by population growth and environmental degradation; social instability owing to structural inequality and intergroup conflicts; persistent human health challenges despite rapidly rising costs. The world needs leaders in government, business, and nonprofits who can creatively address society’s thorniest problems. These are some of the issues Knight-Hennessy scholars are expected to address.

Stanford University, with seven world-class graduate schools that foster service, collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship, is uniquely positioned to fill this need. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme will empower an exceptional cohort of graduate students to effect large-scale positive impact across the globe.
