The ACHPR Announces Dates for 74th Ordinary Session

The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has announced that its 74th Ordinary Session will take place from February 21 to March 7, 2023.

By the announcement, the ACHPR  put State Parties to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, organs of the African Union (AU), National Human Rights Institutions, International Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and the general public on notice about the session.  

To be held as Virtual Session/Zoom Webinar from 09:00 AM to 1:00 AM (GMT) daily, the Commission will focus on the following issues: Consideration of Communications; Consideration of Resolutions; and Consideration of various Papers and Reports. This Session will be private and not open to the public.

The ACHPR is composed of eleven Commissioners and nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity. It meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions, which may be public or private, and may also meet in Extra-Ordinary Sessions when necessary.
