The Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) is calling on investigative journalists from all over the world to apply for reporting grants.

The FIJ’s Board of Directors which will select successful application will look out for stories that break new ground and expose wrongdoing (such as corruption, malfeasance, or misuse of power) in the public and private sectors.

Applications could be for projects on domestic or international issues.

In line with FIJ policy, it pays the first half of the grant after an application is approved and the second half is paid on evidence of publication of a finished project in accordance with the original proposal.

The average award for the Grants is $5,000 which covers out-of-pocket expenses such as travel, document collection, and equipment rental. It does not cover grantees’ salaries or equipment purchase but it also considers requests for small stipends.

All entries which must be written in English should include a detailed budget.

The deadline for accepting applications is September 21, 2015.
