On June 5, 2023, suspected political thugs stormed the venue of the governorship election tribunal sitting at the Magistrate Court, Isabo in Abeokuta and attacked journalists. The Blueprint newspaper correspondents and other journalists were chased out of the premises and only the timely intervention of a known party stalwart who informed the thugs of their identity prevented the journalists from being beaten up
The thugs, numbering over 100 came with canes, and other harmful objects to scare opposition party members away from accessing the court premises.
The heavy security presence at the court from as early as 7am did not deter the thugs who beat up perceived opposition at the court.
