The Tyler Prize 2026 Media Fellowship, administered by the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, in the United States of America, is offering a limited number of supports to journalists who will be covering the prize-giving events in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This is an opportunity for journalists to gain direct access to the world’s foremost environmental leaders, scientists, and policy-makers, and to report on groundbreaking work shaping the future of the planet.
The Fellowship is open to professional journalists working across print, broadcast, or digital media, covering environment, science, or policy, and provides a platform for journalists to join a rare gathering of environmental visionaries and bring their stories to readers, viewers, and listeners worldwide.
It offers two European Fellowships up to USD $250 each in travel support and one Global Fellow up to USD $750 in travel support.
All Fellows will also receive complimentary accommodation in Amsterdam for the duration of the Tyler Prize events, full access to the State of the Environment Address, a keynote that will set the agenda for global environmental action, Tyler Prize Award Dinner and Reception, and all associated press opportunities. Fellows will also have a chance to interview the 2026 Tyler Prize Laureate and other key environmental leaders.
Applicants must submit a brief statement (max 250 words) outlining their interest in covering the Tyler Prize, their primary outlet or audience, and the angles they plan to report; 2-3 recent published articles, posts, or videos highlighting recent relevant work and confirmation that they can travel to Amsterdam for events on April 23, 2026.
Fellowships will be awarded on the basis of journalistic merit, audience reach, and commitment to covering the event.
The 2026 Laureate will be announced publicly on January 13, 2026, via Tyler Prize email and social channels. Successful applicants will be notified by January 30, 2026.
