UNESCO to Host Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 in Jordan

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will host the 2024 edition of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week with a global conference scheduled for October 30 and 31, in the Hashemite Kingdom in Amman, Jordan. The conference would mark the culmination of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024.

The Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 will be celebrated worldwide with the theme “The New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for Public Interest Information” from October 24 to 31, 2024.

The theme for this yearwill speak on the transformative impact of emerging technologies such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and also the new generation of digital content creators on the production and dissemination of public-interest information, highlighting both opportunities and risks. 

The Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an international movement that has been commemorated annually since 2011. It encourages stakeholders from all corners of the world to share ideas and discuss other innovative ways to promote Media and Information Literacy for all and also to host their events and activities where everyone is invited to contribute to this global initiative.

This year, Global Media and Information Literacy Week conference will offer participants at the Amman event the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussions, explore innovative paths to strengthen collaboration in the field of Media and Information Literacy, and also learn from experts.
