WAN-IFRA WIN Invites Entries for the Editorial Leadership Award 2024

The  Women in News (WIN) programme of the, World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), a non-governmental organization made up of national newspaper associations, news agencies, regional press organisations, and individual newspaper executives around the world, is inviting entries for its Editorial Leadership Award 2024.

The Editorial Leadership Award is a career achievement award that recognises an exemplary contribution of an Editor to her newsroom – and under her leadership the contribution of her newspaper.

The Award, which will be awarded to three outstanding woman editors representing Africa, the Arab Region, and Southeast Asia, will recognize women who are first amongst their peers in inspiring and paving the way forward for the next generation of leaders.

The prospective Laureate will possess a proven track record of success within her newsroom, have demonstrated uncompromising editorial integrity throughout her career, and have a strong commitment to the principles of press freedom and its power to promote democracy and good governance. She must have a demonstrated commitment to gender equality, mentoring and lifting up her members of staff while building an organisational culture that embraces equality.

WAN-IFRA WIN encourages news media (newspapers, magazines, and digital-only) of all sizes from the sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab Region, and Southeast Asia to submit nominations. Eligible nominees must hold a senior editorial role as of 1 January 2023.

Newsrooms and individuals can nominate. An editor can also self-nominate herself using the online form WIN Editorial Leadership Award 2024.
