WANEP Invites Entries for Women, Peace and Security National Media Award Competition

The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) Nigeria and the  Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) are inviting entries from Nigerian media practitioners for WANEP’s 2022 Women, Peace and Security (WPS) National Media Award Competition.

The competition is open to any media professional of Nigerian descent, based and working in Nigeria for a print, broadcast or digital outlet or platform is eligible to submit an entry.

Eligible entries are journalistic content that have been published in a newspaper, news magazine, radio, television, online or digital news outlet that seeks to promote or advance the role of women in peacebuilding. The content should have been published between 1 August 2021 and 31 January 2022.

All entries are to be accompanied by information about the journalist and the material being entered for the competition, including the full names of the author, the name of the media outlet or platform in which the entry was published, the date of publication, as well as phone and email contacts of the author.

All entries are to be submitted to mediafor1325@wanepnigeria.org and the deadline for submission of entries is January 31, 2022.

The winner of the competition will receive a certificate of recognition and a plaque. In addition, he or she will be entitled to a fully-sponsored trip to one of the other WPS project countries, namely Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or Lebanon, to report on localization of the Women, Peace and Security strategy in that country.
