The World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) is inviting proposals from science journalists, researchers and media professionals around the world for its annual conference, the World Conference of Science Journalists, which will be held from June 27 to July 1, 2022  in Medellín, Colombia, and online.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Science Journalists Reboot,” and will explore journalism’s recovery, rebirth and renewal after the pandemic.

WFSJ is open to new, creative ideas to take the conference to the next level as well as ideas for the usual topical sessions, panels, workshops and pitching sessions.

The conference will be a hybrid of online and in-person events, therefore proposals can be for events and speakers in either capacity.

Interested person can submit to either the virtual or the face-to-face conference in Medellín, Colombia or even craft something that can be combined for both.

In addition to the usual topical sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and networking/pitching sessions, the conference is asking individual to suggest other types of activity that can be included while also calling on partner organizations to propose field trips, both virtual and in-person, and mounting the first-ever WCSJ Online Film Festival.

Once the programming committee has reviewed and selected the specific sessions that will move forward, will ask those whose proposals have been accepted to participate in assembling whatever they had proposed.

Proposal should include session title, session description, learning objectives, and relevant tracks – Colombia or virtual. The relevant formats can be topical session, panel discussion, workshop, networking/pitch session and any other format or idea.

Proposals must be submitted electronically using the official online submission form using standard abbreviations. Applicants should place special or unusual abbreviations in parenthesis after the full word when it appears for the first time.

An individual may submit more than one proposal but it required one official online submission for each proposal. There is no fee to submit a proposal(s).
