World Press Photo Foundation Invites Entries for 2024 World Press Photo Contest

The World Press Photo Foundation, a creative, independent, nonprofit organization, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is inviting entries from professional photographers around the globe engaged in the fields of photojournalism and documentary photography for its World Press Photo Contest 2024. The competition honors outstanding visual storytelling created over the past year, to engage global audiences with the stories that matter.

Organized by the World Press Photo Foundation, the World Press Photo Contest is an annual contest that serves as a global platform that brings together photojournalists, documentary photographers, and audiences worldwide through credible storytelling. The contest comprises four categories: Singles, Stories, Long-Term Projects, and Open Format, with the selection of 24 regional winners, one for each category in each region.

The contest’s jury comprises global industry experts who will select four global winners: the World Press Photo of the Year, the World Press Photo Story of the Year, the World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award, and the World Press Photo Open Format Award. The judging process which will take place over six weeks in January and February 2024, will consider criteria such as visual quality, story relevance, and representation.

Regional winners of the contest will receive a monetary prize of €1,000; inclusion in the annual World Press Photo year-long worldwide exhibition; inclusion in the annual collectible yearbook, available in multiple languages with a worldwide distribution of more than 30,000 copies; publication in the online collection and a personal profile on World Press Photo’s website; promotion on World Press Photo’s platforms; invitation to a winners’ event; and a physical award.

In addition to their regional prizes, global winners will also receive an additional monetary prize of €5,000; an additional physical award; and a Fujifilm GFX100 II Camera, with two lenses of choice, two Li-ion batteries, and a dual battery charger.
