On February 2, 2017, Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), who is standing trial  for alleged money laundering and conversion of public funds, threatened to slap a journalist and kill another at a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Sources said as soon as Akpobolokemi stepped out of the courtroom he tried to grab one of the cameras from journalists who took his photographs during the trial.

Akpobolokemi reportedly threatened to slap the lady  journalist, and when her superior intervened, he threatened to kill both of them.

“They said you are the one that sent the girl to be taking pictures. I will kill the both of you,” Akpobolokemi threatened.
