The Secretariat of the Africa Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) has announced a Call for Session Proposals and Speakers to stakeholders from across Africa and beyond for its 2026 Session, which will take place in Accra, Ghana, from November 2 to 5, 2026, under the overarching theme: “Advancing Africa’s Digital Future Through Innovation, Inclusion, and Trust”.
Hosted by the Government of Ghana in partnership with the Africa IGF Secretariat, AfIGF 2026 will bring together policymakers, regulators, the technical community, civil society, academia, the private sector, youth leaders, parliamentarians, members of the judiciary, and international organizations to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping Africa’s digital future.
According to the AfIGF Secretariat, as Africa accelerates its digital transformation journey, AfIGF 2026 will explore how innovation, inclusive digital development, and trusted digital ecosystems can drive sustainable growth, resilience, and prosperity across the continent.
It is therefore inviting “proposals that are innovative, inclusive, and action-oriented, fostering meaningful multistakeholder dialogue and contributing to practical policy outcomes.”
Session proposals are required to address one or more of a number of thematic areas, namely: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Technologies; Digital Inclusion and Meaningful Connectivity; Cybersecurity and Digital Trust; Gender and Youth Inclusion in Digital Governance; Human Rights, Online Safety, and Platform Governance; Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI); Digital Technologies and Climate Change; and Digital Sovereignty.
The Forum is expected to commence on November 2, 2026, with dedicated Day 0 activities, including special tracks and engagement platforms for youth, children, parliamentarians, the judiciary, newcomers, and other stakeholder groups.
The AfIGF Secretariat said these sessions will provide opportunities for focused dialogue, networking, and capacity-building ahead of the official Forum programme, which will take place from November 3 to 5, 2026. The official programme will feature: High-Level Policy Dialogues; Leaders Track; Intergenerational Dialogue; Interactive Workshops; Plenary Sessions; Open Forums; and Networking and Partnership Opportunities.
It is encouraging organizations, institutions, networks, and individuals to submit proposals that promote diverse participation, cross-sector collaboration, and actionable outcomes for Africa’s digital future.
According to the AfIGF Secretariat, “Whether you are a policymaker, researcher, youth leader, civil society advocate, technical expert, academic, parliamentarian, member of the judiciary, or private sector representative, your contribution can help shape the continent’s digital agenda.”
The deadline for the submission of Session Proposals, which opened on June 19, 2026, is July 19, 2026. The review and selection process will take place from July to August 2026, while the notification of accepted sessions is expected to be in August 2026.
