On May 29, 2018, Mr. Saint Mienpamo, a blogger and former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, was severely beaten by suspected militants, accompanied by two policemen who stormed his home in Yenagoa, the State capital.

The assault is suspected to be in connection with a report on his blog about the alleged attack on the boat of a former militant leader and immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local council, Joshua Machiver, by some suspected members of the State Waterway Security.

Saint’s assailants arrived his home at about 6.30am local time pretending they have come to arrest him over a post on Facebook but he was severely beaten up and pictures taken of him naked.

They later took him by force to the home of a popular former militant leader, Africanus Home and there, they threatened to kill him.

Confirming the incident, he said his attackers drove him around parts of Yenagoa and then abandoned him at the Okaka area of the town.
