The Centre for Literary and Intermedial Crossings (CLIC), located at Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) in Belgium, is now accepting entries for its 2026 Grant Writing Residency Programme for early-career postdoctoral researchers. The programme offers up to five short-term paid residencies, running for one to two months between August and November 2026, to support selected candidates in preparing competitive postdoctoral fellowship applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO).
The residency is open to researchers with a PhD and up to six years of postdoctoral experience in fields such as literary studies, theatre studies, journalism studies, translation studies, practice-based artistic research, and related disciplines. Applicants are expected to be preparing for the next stage of their academic careers and to have a well-developed research project suitable for fellowship applications.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly grant writing fee of €2,000 for up to two months, along with structured support through CLIC’s Grant Writing Academy. This includes individual consultations, screening sessions, a tailored work plan with clear milestones, and guidance on preparing applications for both MSCA and FWO funding schemes.
Residents will also benefit from access to dedicated office space, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) facilities such as the library, and campus services, as well as participation in academic and networking activities within the university environment in Brussels. The programme is designed to provide both practical support and a stimulating research setting for developing competitive proposals.
Applicants are required to submit a detailed CV, including publications and an artistic portfolio, where relevant, along with a concise research proposal of up to two pages and a one-page motivation letter. Candidates must also secure the support of a prospective CLIC supervisor before applying, and clearly indicate their intended fellowship route and research alignment.
Applications close on May 31, 2026.
