The Dynamic Coalition on Accessibility and Disability (DCAD), a coalition which ensures that ICT accessibility is included in the key debates around Internet Governance in order to build a future where all sectors of the global community have equal access to the Information Society, is inviting persons with disabilities or disability advocates to apply for travel support to attend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2024.
In ensuring that persons with disabilities or disability advocates are able to actively participate in discussions that will shape the future of internet governance and have equal access to information society, DCAD, with support from Google LLC, will provide funding to facilitate the participation of persons with disabilities and disability advocates at IGF.
The travel grants will provide eligible persons with essential financial aid that will cover their various needs such as travel, accommodation, sign language interpretation, personal assistance, and expenses related to remote participation.
To be considered for this grant, applicants must be a registered member of IGF-DCAD, already registered to attend IGF 2024, have a bank account to receive grant payments, demonstrate a background in disability issues and/or internet policy related to disability, and clearly state their disability-related purpose for attending IGF 2024, including specific sessions or roles planned. Applicant can apply to be a member of the IGF-DCAD and register for IGF. The application closes by August 11, 2024.
After attending the IGF, successful grant recipients are expected to provide receipts or relevant documentation for all expenditures, submit a brief report outlining the benefits of their participation and publish a blog post sharing their experiences and insights gained from the fellowship.
