Some suspected hoodlums on the night of June 5, 2023, broke into the offices of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation in Ochaja. Broadcast equipment as well as other valuables worth millions of naira were either carted away or destroyed by the burglars. The burglary pulled the station off the air.

The news of the burglary was disclosed in a statement by Ms Patience Salawu, public relations officer at the Kogi State Ministry of Information and Communications.

Patience said the Ministry carried out an on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the level of damage and noted that the station would not be able to operate for now. She added that the state government has directed security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

She said: “With the level of damage at the station, it is regrettable to note that the broadcasting corporation would not be able to operate for the time being. The government is however committed to returning the station back on air as soon as possible.”
