On October 25, 2019, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) one of Nigeria’s anti-graft agencies, manhandled journalists who were at its Abuja head office to cover the submission of a petition addressed to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu by a group of activists, including Deji Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians.

While on the road leading to the EFCC office, Deji decided to address the press but armed security details attached to the Commission warned the activists and journalists to stop the address but he continued. While Deji was addressing the media, two gun-wielding operatives walked up to them and began drag cameras from the journalists.

The situation led to commotion following the protest by the journalists and the activists.
