Ford Foundation Seeks Applications for Position of Program Officer

The Ford Foundation is seeking applications from candidates to fill the position of a program officer for its Governance and Human Right Initiative in West Africa.The Foundation intends to hire a dynamic, creative and innovative leader who will report to the Foundation’s Representative in West Africa and work collectively with program directors in New York and colleagues in all the regional offices.

Successful candidate will be charged with the responsibility of developing, coordinating, and monitoring grant-making activities in pursuit of foregoing goals and objectives in Nigeria (which presently, has the largest share of grantee partners) and West Africa.

In addition, the successful candidatewill provide intellectual leadership and wide field experience to ensure that grant making activities draw from cutting-edge knowledge on focus issues. Such focus issues include: economic and political impunity, illegal financial flows, grave human rights violations, and murkiness in governance.

The position is open to graduates of social science, law, humanities or related fields with an advanced degree and a minimum of 10years of practical field experience on governance and human rights in the West Africa sub-region.

Remuneration is based on experience and on the Foundation’s commitment to internal equity, a generous benefit package will be provided. Third quarter of 2014 is the anticipated start date for successful applicant.
