Political thugs and hoodlums harassed, assaulted and barred journalists from covering elections at different locations in Lagos during the March 18, 2023 governorship and house of assembly. Henrietta Oke, Amarachi Amushie and Nkiru Nwokedi, reporters and cameramen of the African Independent Television (AIT), were harassed and assaulted by the hoodlums in Eti-Osa, Ifako-Ijaiye and Amuwo Odofin local government areas.
Amushie was harassed and her camera was destroyed, and the photographer was assaulted before a party chieftain. Nkiru lost his phone in the process, but it was later found by members of the O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) and returned to her.
