ICFJ to Shortlist Media Professionals for Knight International Journalism Award

Media professionals, whose pioneering coverage or media innovations have had a significant impact on the lives of people around the world, are being sought by the   International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) as nominees  for the Knight International Journalism Award.

The KIJ Award  recognizes media professionals who demonstrate a passionate commitment to excellent reporting that makes a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Nominees can be reporters, editors, technologists, media managers, citizen journalists or bloggers who are from and work in Africa, Asia, Central/Eastern Europe, Latin America/Caribbean or the Middle East.

Interested persons who meet the Awards criteria may nominate themselves.

A peep at past recipients reveals that awardees include pioneering correspondents who have exposed government corruption, war crimes and other important stories. The award has also honoured crusading publishers determined to maintain their independence despite enormous political and financial pressures.

Deadline for submission of nominations is 11:59 pm Eastern time, February 18, 2018.

The Award winners will be sponsored on a trip to the United States, where they will be honored at ICFJ’s Awards Dinner on November 8, 2018.

Each winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize and a crystal trophy recognizing their achievement.
