An American non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of investigative journalism, Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), is calling for applications for a fellowship to participate in its fourth annual AccessFest Conference, scheduled to take place from October 17 to 19, 2024.

The Fellowship is open to journalists, students, educators of color, early- career women journalists (three years or less), U.S based journalists and independent journalists, international journalists and educators.

The AccessFest Conference, which is IRE’s annual virtual-by-design conference, is a two-and half-day event that will take place online from October 17-19, 2024.

The fellowship focuses on expanding IRE’s efforts to provide more accessible training centered on belonging, equity, and inclusion in the newsroom and through better news coverage of inequities in the communities that journalists serve. The conference will also feature the best data classes and investigative reporting sessions from the in-person conferences of the past year.

All recipients are required to meet IRE’s membership standards that include being engaged in news gathering, presentation or production; student pursuing a degree or someone engaged full-time in research or teaching in the field of journalism.

The fellowships will include a one-year of IRE membership/renewal valued at $25-75 and a complimentary conference registration worth $50-150.

The deadline for submission of applications is September 9, 2024. Applicants who have enquiries, should contact Anna López, anna@ire.org.
