IPI World Congress Holds in Geneva

Online registration is now open for the 2019 International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, –on June 4 and 5, 2019.

This year’s Congress which will hold under the theme “Building Alliances for Independent Media”, will discuss successful strategies to strengthen the relationship between news organizations and their audiences in defense of quality journalism as a public good.

The congress will discuss how the press and the public can defend independent journalism together; connecting with communities and audiences to gain valuable feedback and build trust; how journalism should react to the rise of populism; newsroom guidelines for dealing with online harassment of journalists; the disappearance of independent media in Central and Eastern Europe; recent EU elections: Did defences against hacks and fake news work? And covering FIFA – between sport and business.

Members will pay €200 while non-members will pay €400 to participate in the Congress. Interested persons can join IPI for €100 and save €300

IPI is partnering with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), as well as leading media representatives and thinkers from around the globe, for a debate and exchange on key challenges confronting press freedom and independent journalism.
