IWMF Accepting Applications for Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists

The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is accepting applications for the third round of the Howard G. Buffett Fund to promote the work and advance the role of women in news media across the globe.

The Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists provides financial support for women journalists to pursue opportunities that will make them leaders in the news industry. It will provide flexible grant of different amounts that will support a wide range of innovative, original, and collaborative news media projects, and that will strengthen the skills of women journalists worldwide.

Interested applicants must be practicing women journalists with at least three years of post-graduate professional journalism experience. Teams of journalists may apply, however the submission must be from a woman journalist and her team must comprise of at least 50% women.

The Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists is an incredible resource for talented reporters and will make a real difference in the field of journalism. The IWMF will give out an annual total of $230,000 worth of grants to support women journalists in their projects and endeavors.

Funding rounds will open for applications in January and June of each year; applications take 6-8 weeks to process. Applicants may apply concurrently for Reporting Grants for Women’s Stories and the Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists.
