The chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi state chapter, Comrade Tony Nwizi, was arrested by Police detectives who reportedly came to Abakaliki from the Police headquarters in Abuja, allegedly on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
The detectives stormed his residence in Abakaliki, the state capital at about 6:30 am on July 4, 2020, whisked him away to an unknown destination.
His arrest was linked to a petition written against him by some unnamed members of the NUJ linking him with murder related offence.
He was released the same day in the evening.
