Journalists who gathered at the Federal High Court in Abuja to cover the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the pro-separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) were on January 10, 2017 barred from covering the day’s proceedings by Justice Binta Nyako, the presiding judge.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader and Coordinator of IPOB; Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi are being prosecuted by the Federal Government on 11 counts bordering on felony.

Reports have it that some journalists were later allowed into the court room after much protest but were confined to the back and a fabric used to blank them out of the proceedings.
