Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a Freedom of Information (FOI) suit filed by the non-profit news organization, the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), against the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to give the Bureau another opportunity to file its response to the suit.

Justice Ekwo of Federal High Court Abuja had on May 2019, granted ICIR leave to file an application challenging the refusal of CCB to grant it access to asset declaration of all cabinet members in the past administration.

There was no legal representation from CCB at the hearing of the matter and also failed to file any process to counter ICIR’s application.

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the third Respondent in the matter who had legal representation asked for time to enable its office reacts to the suit by filing the necessary processes.

ICIR counsel asked the Court to adjourn the matter specifically for the hearing of all the processes pending before the Court. However, Justice Ekwo was of the opinion that CCB should be given another opportunity to file its process and thereafter adjourned the matter to September 26, 2019 for further mention.
