Paradigm Initiative Calls for Applications for IFF Fellowship

In preparation for the sixth edition of the Internet Freedom Forum (IFF), scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria, from April 24 to 26, 2018, Paradigm Initiative is calling for persons who have an interest in Internet policy and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of Internet freedom issues in their countries to apply for the fellowship to enable them participate in the event.

The IFF is an annual event hosted by Paradigm Initiative, a social enterprise that builds an ICT-enabled support system and advocates digital rights in order to improve livelihoods for under-served youth across Africa. IFF has become a reference point in Africa for conversations around Internet Freedom and convenes the best minds in civil society, academia, government and industry from across Africa. Delegates from over thirty African countries attended IFF 2017.  IFF 2018 will be the sixth edition of the Forum.

As part of the fellowship, fellows will be required to complete the following tasks: give country updates on Internet Freedom in their respective countries at IFF 2018; help with content translation for IFF 2018; work with Paradigm Initiative research team to produce Paradigm Initiative’s annual “Digital Rights in Africa Report 2018”; Monitor and report on Internet Freedom issues in their respective countries for the fellowship period which is a period of one year.

Paradigm Initiative will also be sponsor fellows to attend the Internet Freedom Forum 2018 by catering for their travel cost, accommodation and meals.

To apply for the IFF fellowship interested persons should send a copy of their CV and a 2-page report on the situation of Internet Freedom in their country of residence to hello@paradigmhq.org before November 30, 2017 by 12:00 pm (WAT)

Furthermore, the registration for the 2018 Internet Freedom Forum holding in Abuja is still on going and Paradigm Initiative is also still accepting proposal for side sessions at the Internet Freedom Forum 2018. The deadline for registration for side sessions is February 5, 2018.
