On August 31, 2023, Mr. Ibrahim Mista Ali, a journalist and blogger, was assaulted inside the Adamawa State Government House in Yola, by Mr. Hamidu Mukhtari, a suspected political thug popularly known as Dogo. Mr. Ali was in Government House to cover a press briefing by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Awwal Tukur
The journalist was reported to have been attacked for criticising Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Narrating his ordeal, Ibrahim said Hamidu slapped, punched, and dragged him by the neck in the presence of security personnel who, rather than arrest him, intervened by pleading with Hamidu to release him. Ibrahim said Hamidu had earlier threatened to deal with him for covering the opposition.
Hamidu is believed to have led several attacks against those perceived to be critics of the state governor.
