President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Nigeria’s broadcast industry regulator, with Mr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa appointed as the new chairman.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, disclosed this in a press statement issued on March 16, 2022 adding that this followed the expiration of the tenure of the former Board.
The new Board has as members, a representative of the State Security Service, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Information and the Director-General of the NBC..
Members were appointed to represent various interests in compliance with the provisions of the NBC Act and they include: Mr. Wada Asab Ibrahim, Mr. Iheanyichukwu Azubike Dike, Mrs. Adesola Oyinloye Ndu and Mr. Olaniyan Olatunji Badmus.
The other members appointed into the Board are Bashir Ibrahim, Obiora Ilo, Ahmad Sajo, and Bayo Erikitola,
The Board has a three-year tenure.
