The Zamfara State Correspondent of the Voice of Nigeria (VON)
On September 20, 2023, the remains of Alhaji Hamisu Danjibga, the Zamfara State Correspondent of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), who had been declared missing on September 17, were found in a septic tank behind his house where his killers apparently dumped his lifeless body.
Hamisu’s corpse was found when a group of Islamiya students detected a foul odor emanating from the vicinity, prompting their teachers to investigate further. Upon closer examination, they decided to break open the soakaway, revealing Hamisu’s decomposing remains. His family later confirmed the body’s identity.
The Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has thereafter called on security agencies to launch a thorough and comprehensive investigation into Hamisu’s death.
