The Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) at the University of Missouri in the United States is calling for applications from journalists around the world for its 2019 fellowship meant to

The fellowship is looking to advance new products, services, ideas and storytelling techniques with funding, mentoring, testing and promotion through collaborative on innovative ideas and projects that strengthen democracy through better journalism.

The current class of fellows at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute is improving VR news and advertising, giving middle American high school students a voice in journalism, developing a playbook to cover disasters and using innovative techniques to reach Spanish-speaking immigrants among other things.

RJI offers different types of fellowships. Residential fellows earn $80,000 and spend eight months at the Missouri School of Journalism. The fellowship will offer $20,000 to non-residential fellows. The fellowship offers Newsrooms and civil society organizations interested in the fellowship a $20,000 stipend .

Applications close January 31, 2019.
