On July 27, 2019 suspected armed robbers raided the secretariat of the Taraba State chapter of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Hamaruwa way in Jalingo and stole items worth millions of Naira.
The robbers carted away valuables including Sony Plasma TV, electricity generating set, DSTV decoder, automatic voltage regulator, computers, among others.
The State Chairman of the Chapel, Wole Ayodele, who condemned the incident appealed to the state government to fulfill its promise to relocate the Chapel to a safer and conducive place to avert a reoccurrence.
