The Rory Peck trust is inviting freelancers around the world to send in entries for the 2015 edition of the Rory Peck awards. This year, the use of a new online entry form has been introduced to make the submission process even easier.

This year, the Rory Peck Awards will feature three categories:

  • Rory Peck Award for News (Maximum duration of 10 minutes) which honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in the coverage of a news event where the focus is on the immediacy of the story.  Agency rushes/un-voiced pieces are accepted in this category.
  • Rory Peck Award for Features (Maximum duration of 60 minutes) honouring the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news and current affairs features: in-depth pieces which look beyond the immediacy of a news story.
  • Sony Impact Award (Maximum duration of 60 minutes) honouring the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news or current affairs that examines humanitarian or social issues. Judges will be looking for entries that have had a tangible impact in one or more of the following areas: audience, press, policy or public awareness.

All entries are required to have had their first broadcast (television, agency feed, and recognized online news publisher) between June 1 2014 and May 31 2015. The Rory Peck Awards welcome self-funded work and entries from local freelancers, especially those living and working in regions where it is difficult to operate.

For more information and enquiries, visit the Rory Peck Awards pages. Submission of entries will be received until June 9, 2015 and are free of charge.
