The Thomson Foundation, in partnership with the UK Foreign Press Association (FPA), is now accepting applications from young journalists for its annual journalism competition dedicated to finding and inspiring ambitious and emerging journalistic talents from across the globe.

The Thomson Foundation is sponsoring an award for young journalists working in the developing world as part of the 2017 UK Foreign Press Association (FPA) Awards.

The competition is open to journalists aged 30 or under working in developing countries with a gross national income per capita of less than $20,000.

Interested applicants who meet the criteria are encouraged to submit three published pieces of work produced in the last 12 months. Applicants can submit their works in any format — print, audio, video, multimedia or a combination of all four.

Entries can be in any language but should be accompanied with a verbatim English-language translation.

Three shortlisted finalists will be flown to London for the gala award night in November along with a host of other potential award winners and leading figures from the world of journalism.

Applications close on August 18, 2017
