On March 18, 2023, some thugs attacked and brutalised the crew of Arise TV News Channel at Ikate around Elegushi’s Palace in Lagos, where they went to cover governorship and state house of assembly elections. The crew members were brutally assaulted. They sustained injuries while some of their equipment, including drones, were confiscated by their assailants.
A reporter, Oba Adeoye; cameraman, Opeyemi Adenihun; and the driver, Yusuf Hasan were beaten and bruised by the thugs. Opeyemi, who was operating the station’s drone sustained facial injuries.
