The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), reported to be the world’s largest international press organisation, is inviting news leaders from around the world to share their views to help inform the next version of its flagship report, the World Press Trends Outlook, by participating in an ongoing World Press Trends survey.
The World Press Trends Outlook, a key resource for tracking global media industry trends, is published every year based on insights, data, and projections shared by publishing executives from around the world.
The survey features questions on what revenue streams are driving publishers’ strategies, cost allocations, financial and strategic forecasts, as well as the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across newsroom workflows, monetisation, and search discovery.
It also explores pressing challenges such as press freedom threats, climate change, and evolving relationships with tech platforms and news creators.
The survey can be taken in any of four languages, namely English, French, German, or Spanish.
As an expression of gratitude, WAN-IFRA is offering to send respondents the initial results of the survey, in a slide deck, sometime in September 2026, and a copy of the final full report in January 2027.
It said the data would be collected anonymously, while survey findings will only be reported in the aggregate.
