Cinema Verde Environmental Film and Arts Festival Competition Opens for Entries

The Cinema Verde Environmental Film and Arts Festival is calling on interested filmmakers to enter their works for the 2022 edition of its documentaries on environmental issues competition.

The festival brings community organizations, businesses and citizens together to help forge sustainable solutions for our future and utilizes a multi-disciplinary program of film, music, art, workshops, an eco-fair and eco-tours to connect participants with green initiatives in business, government and organizations seeking to solve environmental problems. It has a vision to expand the reach of environmental information to inspire, educate and engage participants in sustainable business and lifestyle solutions.

The Cinema Verde is an Environmental Film and Arts Festival in Gainesville, Florida which was created to raise awareness of environmental issues through the arts. It held its twelfth annual festival in February 2021. Its mission is to provide environmental education to the public through film, arts, workshops, events, tours and any other forum or media; to increase public awareness of environmental practices that enhance public health and improve quality of life in urban, suburban and rural settings.

Winners will be given full-access VIP Festival Passes to all Cinema Verde screenings,workshops, parties and events. At this time, the prizes are only recognition, but the organisers continue to seek cash sponsors for prizes in each category.

The different dates and deadlines for submission of entries are: Opening Date – January 1, 2021; Earlybird Deadline – May 27, 2021; Regular Deadline – August 27, 2021; Late Deadline – October 17, 2021; Notification Date – December 2, 2021; and Event Date – February 12 – 14, 2022.

By entering the Cinema Verde Environmental Film and Arts Festival competition, entrants accept and agree that they grant Cinema Verde a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, screen, broadcast, and distribute the Film, as well as the unrestricted use of the Film for any purpose, without compensation to the provider of the Film.

To be eligible, submissions must be cinema-quality high definition DVDs or digital media files. Applicants are encouraged to check the category for details. Cinema Verde will not take responsibility for returning films submitted and winning submissions cannot be withdrawn by the filmmaker.

It is funded in part by a Tourist Development Tax Grant from the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners in conjunction with the Alachua County Tourist Development Council and by the State of Florida Division of Cultural Arts.
