The PEN World Voices Festival will, from May 6 to 12, 2019, mark its 15th anniversary, a powerful testament to the continued relevance of its mission to celebrate the best of world literature and combat cultural isolationism. The Festival holds in New York City.
The festival also offers internships programme for fall (September – December 2018) and spring (January – May 2019), with the possibility of longer engagement for interested candidates.
PEN America is membership organization of more than 7,000 writers and it stands at the intersection of literature and human rights to protect open expression in the United States and worldwide. They champion the freedom to write, recognizing the power of the word to transform the world, with mission to unite writers and their allies to celebrate creative expression and defend the liberties that make it possible.
PEN has Internships programme which offers hands-on experience across a range of Festival areas including: programme research and development, marketing, web and social media; production, and festival management and presenting.

The PEN World Voices Festival was founded by Salman Rushdie, Esther Allen, and Michael Roberts in 2005 with the aim of combating isolationism in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It is a mission that feels even more urgent and necessary today.
Since 2005 World Voices has presented over 1,700 established and emerging writers and artists from 118 countries speaking 74 languages to over 139,000 audience members. Guests have included Margaret Atwood, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Patti Smith, Toni Morrison, Orhan Pamuk, Trevor Noah, Colm Toibin, Don DeLillo, Jeffrey Eugenides, Samantha Bee, Roxane Gay, Arundhati Roy, Masha Gessen, and many others.
