Entries are now open for the 2018 PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival which aims to empower young people to speak out about what they think of migration, diversity and social inclusion, using their own views and voices.

The PLURAL+ Video Festival gives youth a platform to say what they think and to make themselves heard by people from all over the world.

The PLURAL+ Video Festival is opened to youth who are a maximum of 25 years old at the time of production of the video and are actively involved in the making of the video.

Submitted video should include issues on migration, diversity and social. The organisers want entrants to elaborate more on migrant integration, inclusiveness, identity, diversity, human rights, xenophobia, and social unity.

PLURAL+ encourages creativity in submissions for the Video Festival. Therefore, video can be done in any style or genre – animation, documentary, drama, music video, comedy etc. Whatever that best represents the thematic areas listed above is welcomed.

Videos must be between 1 and 5 minutes long, including title and end credits. Any submissions falling outside of this time restraint will not be considered.

Preferably all videos should be submitted as a file through a file hosting website of choice (see Rules and Regulations).

Submitted videos can be in any language desired, however, if the language of your video is not English then you must have English subtitles.

Participants that have difficulties submitting entries due to lack of camera should please check the Media Organizations page here for assistance.

The official language of the PLURAL+ Video Festival is English.

Participants must include the following in their entrance package:

a) A complete and signed entry form (see Rules and Regulations)
b) Your DVD / or email video file

Applicants sending video through a file hosting website must include the following in their mails:

a) Format text email including the title of the video, name of the authors, link, email (see Rules and Regulations)
b) A complete and signed entry form (see Rules and Regulations)

Judging for the PLURAL+ Jury Award will be performed by an international jury, whose names and biographies are available on the website.

There will be 3 age-based categories for judging: up to 12, 13-17, and 18-25.

There will be a variety of prizes to award at the festival, the PLURAL+ JURY AWARD prize will be awarded to one video per age category (3 prizes in all). In addition, other collaborative partner agencies and organizations of PLURAL+ will be awarding additional prizes. See a list of 2016 partner awards here.

Each of the 3 winners of the PLURAL+ JURY AWARD will be invited (all travel expenses paid) to participate at the PLURAL+ 2018 Awards Ceremony in November 2018 in New York.

PLURAL+ 2018 will also select a video for the “PLURAL+ Award for the Prevention of Xenophobia”, the winner (one representative of the video production team) will also be invited to New York to participate and present his/her video at the PLURAL+ 2018 Festival and Awards Ceremony in New York.

Other awards and prizes might include equipment and professional opportunities.
The winners of the PLURAL+ Video Festival will be notified by August 15, 2018 at the very latest. The winners will be publicly announced in November 2018 at a ceremony in New York.

All entries must be received by Midnight (New York City Time, GMT -5hours) on June 3, 2018. Any videos received after this time will not be considered for the PLURAL+ 2018 Youth Video Festival.

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival is a joint initiative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) that invites the world’s youth to submit original and creative videos focusing on the themes of migration, diversity and social inclusion.
