International Women’s Film Festival Opens, Calls for Entries

The Legal Gender Cultural Foundation (LIZA) is now accepting entries for the International Women’s Film Festival “KIN”, meaning woman in Armenian, from women filmmakers around the world who wish to submit short documentary, fiction and animated films to the festival.

The festival, which is looking for films that address issues related to women’s rights and gender problems will take place from November 9 to 13, 2020 in Yerevan, Armenia.

The purpose Festival is to discuss the problem of Gender Equality through films, problems of violence, inequality, discrimination and other problems related to women’s rights and gender problems.

The festival’s goal is to promote women’s creativity, establish a network between women filmmakers from different parts of the world and give hand to a better understanding of different cultures and each other.

The International Film Festival “KIN” includes the following four categories: Short Films Competition Program for Documentary, Fiction and Animation films less than 30 min; Guest Program for feature-length and short films; Retrospective screenings of films of world-famous woman filmmaker; and Programme of Guest Film Festival.

For any film to be eligible, it must meet the following criteria: the film must have been produced in the last two years; it is Documentary, Fiction or Animation; the film’s length is less than 30 minutes for competition Programme and more than 30 minutes for Guest Programme. Only women filmmakers can apply.

All films have to have English subtitles, including films produced in English, too.

Awards and prizes will be given for the following nominations: Best Film, Special Mention, and Diplomas.

Closing for submission of entries is July 1, 2020.
