Maastricht University in partnership with the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (the LIBE Committee) is presenting an eclectic group of high-level speakers at the Maastricht University Campus in Brussels. The high-level conference will take place on October 20 and 21, 2015.
The event aims to create an open forum and Offer an opportunity to meet and engage with key policy makers and industry decision makers from both sides of the Atlantic in the area of data protection, privacy, digital security and cybercrime. The conference is tagged ‘UM @tlantic Series – Protecting and Securing Data across the Atlantic: A Bridge Too Wide?’
The aim of the event is to create a platform for interactions between policy makers, legal professionals, academics, industry and NGO participants from the EU and the US. The main aim is to establish a sound understanding of each other’s points of view through an open and constructive discussion. Each day of the event will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions addressing the various topics and at the end of the first day there is a dinner for the speakers and the attendees.
The event will be held under a strict Chatham House Rule to enable an open dialogue and foster a discussion of the topics to the fullest extent possible. The rule states that: “Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.” Participants may be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure-Agreement to this extent upon registration.
